The Australian National University

A national university serving society through transformational research and education.

The challenge: Following on from 2020/21 and the disruptions of COVID-19, the Academic Portfolio at ANU planned a significant transformation across learning and teaching to coincide with a major digital uplift across the University.

Successful management of this transformation required a sophisticated approach to communicating with the University's many and diverse internal audiences.

The brief: Set out the strategic principles needed for the Portfolio to successfully communicate with key audiences. They also needed to develop the communication tools and channels that would be needed to support their soon to be established Portfolio communication function.

Our work

Working closely with the Portfolio's leadership and engaging with key stakeholders, we developed an internal communication strategy that could deliver a significant step-change in their communications with key audiences.

As part of this project we developed a single-source-of-truth SharePoint communication site focused on the articulation the University's teaching and learning strategy and communication about its progress to ANU staff. We also developed a series of templates and tools to help the Portfolio tell their story internally.

The team was a pleasure to work with.

Their experience and skill meant they could confidently take our brief and build the right program of work for

our needs.

Their engagement with stakeholders across our organisation was sensitively handled and revealed brilliant insights around areas for targeted attention.

Working with Inkfield was fun and interesting. We learned so much that will help us do better.

It has been delightful and insightful for us to work with Inkfield as they ‘combed’ through the knots and tangles of our current approach to communication to produce something quite beautiful.
